Sumitomo Corporation and Sumitomo Australia Pty Ltd jointly own a 50% stake in the Kwinana Power Station in Western Australia. The power station is 320Mw natural gas fired combined cycle power plant which is one of the state's largest, newest, cleanest, and most advanced power plants.
Sumitomo’s ownership is held via the holding company Summit Southern Cross Power Pty Ltd based in Sydney.
Kwinana is Sumitomo’s first direct investment in a power generation facility in Australia. Sumitomo believes that Australia’s sound economic growth prospects will sustain increasing demand for electrical power. The group will continue to seek opportunities for investment in this sector.
