The machinery department contributes to the development of infrastructure in Australia.

The department has a broad portfolio of activities that includes management of infrastructure investments, importing speciality components used in the transportation and the energy industries, and the supply of large plant and equipment items. These activities are backed by the resources and network of Sumitomo Corporation.

 

 

Power Generation Plant and Products

Gas Turbine Generator and Desalination Plant

 

Sumitomo Corporation offers a power generation and desalination combined plant working together with a global engineering company, Black and Veatch, USA utilizing highly efficient gas turbine generator from General Electric, USA with thermal desalination plant. Heat recovered from the power generation exhaust gas produces steam which is used in the desalination process.

A single unit plant output is 100 MW of Electric Power and 30-45 MLD of treated Water. The plant is ideally suited to locations where gas fuel, such as coal seam gas, is available and where fresh water supply is required by treating coal seam gas water or sea water.


Vacuum Circuit Breakers
 

Sumitomo Australia is the exclusive Australian distributor of the Dry Air Insulated Dead Tank Type VCB manufactured by Japan AE Power Systems Corporation. This product is used in electrical distribution systems. The VCB circuit breaker is environmentally friendly – it contains no SF6 gas. It has a longer life and easier maintenance than conventional Gas Circuit Breakers.
 
Renewable Energy

 

Sumitomo Australia can supply renewable energy related equipment, such as wind turbines, wind tower flanges, biomass turbines and geothermal turbines.

Sumitomo can also supply highly efficient solar panels for EPC delivery or stand alone sales. Installation can be arranged if required.

 

 

Transportation Equipment Consumables

 

Sumitomo Australia imports and distributes rubber bushes, air springs and other components used in the manufacture and maintenance of passenger and freight rail carriages.

 

 Aircraft

Sumitomo Corporation, as one of the investors to Mitsubishi Aircraft, is supporting sales and marketing of the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ). Sumitomo Australia provides marketing support in the Oceania and Pacific region. This aircraft combines operating economy and cabin comfort using the most recent advances in technology.The MRJ will meet the latest noise and emission requirements, and will be able to meet future environmental standards. The aircraft is available in a 70 or 90 seat model and has a range of 3,300km.The aircraft is being developed by Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation and will be manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
